Frequently Asked
Questions:
Should I really consider purchasing a powersports
vehicle online?
There are many factors to consider - lower price
vs
local support, and not being able to test
ride. There can be advantages to buying online in
price,
but there are drawbacks as well. But the main
thing to consider is,
if you do not have a basic mechanical ability, and are
not comfortable with basic servicing of the vehicle on your own,
you may want to consider buying from a local dealer. Do your research and feel
comfortable with the seller and the brands they are
selling.
Before you buy any
vehicle from
an online seller, do your
homework.

Because we've been importing and
selling scooters the longest, we maintain a very positive
standing on the ScootDawg forum
and provide technical assistance
for people who are not even our
customers. Go to the
ScootDawg forum and do a search
on Bandit MotorSports.
Then search for other products
or sellers from which you are
considering buying. You'll
be surprised at what you find

In the case of any Chinese vehicle brand, including
the ones that we sell, there will often be more maintenance to keep
the vehicle running than there would be for brand name
vehicles from Honda, Vespa and Polaris. There will be several Chinese
made vehicless that will run flawlessly for many miles, but the
percentage that fail within 500 miles is much higher
than brand name bikes. As a comparative example,
most Chinese made vehicles will have a failure rate of
about 50 in 1000 units. The better quality Chinese
products that we feature would probably see a failure
rate of 15 per 1000. And on the
other hand, if you purchase a brand name such as Honda,
Kymco or SYM
(made in Taiwan), you should expect to do little to no
service other than routine maintenance... and the
failure rate of the SYM's is probably 1 in 1000 if not
better. And to be clear about this, when we say a
failure we mean any situation where the vehicle is
stopped and will not run be it on the highway or at your
home. The failure could be as simple as an
electronic switch or component failing, or the battery
going dead. In the 2,500 units that we have sold
since we started business in January of 2003, we have
only had two engines failures that we know of - both due
to their owners. Mechanical failures seem to be
least common problem for the products that we feature.
What forms of payment do you
accept?
We accept all credit cards (AmEx, Discover, M/C,
Visa) as deposit through our website and all credit cards except AmEx over the
phone. We also accept Cashier's Checks, Money
Orders, Business Checks or Wire Transfers.
When will my vehicle ship after I
place an order?
Generally, you can expect delivery
in about 5-15 business days from the date of payment for items that are in stock.
Units that are completely assembled and custom crated
take the most days to ship.
Since we do some drop shipping versus having all
products here in our warehouse in Oregon, we are subject
to the schedules and capabilities of the distributors
that we deal with. When we used to direct import
ourselves, the process was much faster but then, we had
all the products here in Oregon.
Are these vehicles street legal
and can they be registered in any state?
Yes, all of our scooters comply with all DOT rules and we
have our own EPA and CARB approvals for emissions on our
Bandit scooters. While
we have had 'hick-ups' with registering in some states,
all customers have acquired registration and title.
We even guarantee registration and will buy back the
scooter if you can't get it registered. And of
course, Qlink and SYM products all have DOT and EPA
approval as well as CARB approval for all SYM models.
Do you stock and sell parts for
these scooters?
Yes, we were the direct importer of Bandit scooter brand and as such, we imported these scooters and the parts to
go with them. We are trying to get to the point
where we are stocking all parts all of the time.
And we can easily source any needed parts for the
Hensim, Qlink and SYM product lines from those
suppliers. With the parts that we have on hand,
and the part sources we have available, we can generally
find and provide any parts that you may need in the
future - even on products we didn't sell to you.
Your prices seem higher on average
than some sellers online - why is that?
While we are selling Chinese manufactured vehicles, we
are not sourcing and buying the cheapest ones that we
can find. If another seller has lower prices than
us, then they most likely have a cheaper (lower quality)
scooter than what we import.
There are differences in the quality of scooters coming
out of China... we've checked out enough brands now that
we know this to be fact. We carry and sell
the brands that we've come to find that are the most
reliable for what they are.
Everyone says they are the direct
importer and have the best quality vehicless.
How do I learn about and know the differences?
We recommend that you don't take anyone's word for it,
not even ours. Do your research and ask questions from everyone even from the
sellers. If they are reluctant to answer serious
questions or stumble when answering, then they probably
have something to hide. One of the biggest
problems in the internet sales business is sellers who
drop ship products from their home based business and
have no idea of what they are selling or how to support
them with tech help and parts. Drop shippers will
also typically ship you whatever they can find if they
can't ship what you ordered. We won't. We'll
get permission to make a substitution or give you a full
refund. Find out which brands others
are selling and then do research on that brand.
The scooter forums are common on the internet.
Below is a link to a big one.
www.scootdawg.com
Where are your products
manufactured?
Most off-brand scooters, ATVs and go-karts offered for sale
on the internet including ours are of Chinese manufacture. No matter
what the sellers claim, these scooters do not have any
parts compatibility with Honda, Yamaha or any other
major brand. We see where other online sellers
make outlandish claims in that their scooters have Honda
engines... and that you can go to your local Honda
dealer for parts and service. Don't ever believe these
kinds of statements...
Why would I buy or not buy from a
drop-shipper type of online seller?
They are typically referred to in the industry as
'fly-by-night' sellers. They operate a computer
business out of their basement and stock no inventory
and no parts at any time. They rarely know
anything about the products that they sell. And they can never be
relied upon for support after the sale.
In most cases they are not even licensed dealers in
their own state. You may want to verify their
having a dealers license and a brick-and-mortar store
front location before making a purchase.
Don't take our word for it, do
thorough research on any seller and brand you are
considering buying, including us...
Are you a licensed dealer in
Oregon?
Absolutely. We also have a store front
along with our warehouse facility. Anyone can come
visit us during regular business hours. We can
provide a link to the Oregon DMV for proof of our
license ownership.
Do these scooters come with all
documents and is there a charge for them?
Your MCO and Bill-of-Sale will come with your
scooter or will be mailed separately in short order. We're pretty sure that we are the only
ones who do this mostly because everyone else is a drop
shipper - they don't have any scooters let alone
documents to go with them. We've heard of other sellers
taking many weeks to provide documents for registering
and titling a scooter. And we don't charge
anything for these documents - they are meant to be
provided with any scooter for registration purposes.
What happens if my
vehicle arrives
DOA?
We've worked on so many different types and brands at
this point that we feel we've selected the best brands
available today. We're very confident that our
bikes will start and run for our customers. In any event, we will work with
you to resolve the situation to your satisfaction to
include any needed repairs.
