Product Overview:
The UTV-500 is a 500cc 4WD Side-by-Side Utility Vehicle (UTV) with a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine. The 471cc, 4-stroke engine presents excellent power over a standard 450/500 class vehicle in a light weight, full-sized ATV while the liquid cooling provides excellent wear characteristics and thusly, longevity. The UTV-500 has a 2-speed CVT automatic transmission with Hi / Lo / Neutral / Reverse / Park as well as shaft drive at the front and rear wheels. All of these features means that with regular maintenance, this UTV will go for many years without the likelihood of needing major service. If you take care of it, it should last for a very long time.
The UTV-500 styling is pretty decent for off-brand products. The gauges and controls are large and easy to read and use. The roll cage is built stylish but tough (take a look) for heavy duty utility use but with the 2-Speed transmission and push button 2WD / 4WD, you can also get into sport mode and race around in the woods, mud or sand... and when it's time to 'get back to work' on the farm or ranch.
Our Review of the UTV-500 4x4:
Actually, we really like the UTV-500 from HiSun. It's very well made. We don't mind drop shipping them either simply because they are very reliable and doing extremely well for both our local customers and even guys who bought from several states away. If we didn't have experience with local sales and customers, we probably wouldn't drop ship them.
We've been selling since April, 2008 and have sold several units locally - and even more at the national level. Of all the units we have sold, local and distance, we've had few warranty claims as of yet. We've had customers call to let us know that everything on their UTV is going great and that they have no problems and love their machine. This has been a total surprise to us as usually there is some minor issue somewhere along the line but we've had no negative reports on these UTV's as of yet. Some guys take them out on group rides with people who have Rhinos and compare them and the Rhino guys seem very agitated when they are thru comparing.
When we ordered our first HiSun UTV-500, we had mid-level expectations in that it would work and do it's job but it wouldn't be the same level of quality or reliability as the main brands. We weren't even close in our assumptions! When we got it set up and ready to run, it started within 4 cranks of the starter. It started and idled just fine. We rode around our shop on the pavement - no vibration, no rattles, and the engine pulled the little machine around very well. We stayed on the pavement to start out. We wanted to check the 'roll' aspect or how much tilt it has because the legal issues with the Rhino right now. The Chinese have always made really stiff suspensions on their ATVs. Its not bad for the ride, but it works out really well in producing a lot less lean in turns. So we was really impressed with the overall ride and performance of the unit right from the start...
After that, we crawled around the HiSun UTV-500 for a few hours and gave it a very detailed 'once over'. We were very impressed with the level of quality in the frame welds, structure, hardware and most of the individual parts. Overall, it's a very good machine - not what we would expect from our experience with the Chinese made vehicles thus far. There are some other UTVs that we've looked at but we believe that we've found the one that will be the most reliable for us. As a dealer, we would rather not have our customers calling us constantly for problems with their products or warranty issues - it just makes things run smoother as a business. And these HiSun UTVs are doin just fine in our book...
